A pool fit for Olympians
Swimmers always want to go faster, and Kevin McGrath said Myrtha Pools USA is here to help in 2012. McGrath stood guard at sunrise on Wednesday as Myrtha started the construction process for the pools that will be used at the U.S. Olympic Trials, which start June 25 at the CenturyLink Center.

Warm-up Trials pool could stay in Omaha
Nothing has been finalized, but efforts are under way to keep one of the two pools from the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials in Omaha. According to a person involved in the discussions, some form of announcement could come in the next few weeks if final terms of the agreement can be reached. Those close to the situation would not reveal a location.

Michael Phelps couldn't remember the name of the Omaha arena that held the 2008 U.S. Swim Trials. Even if he had, it's changed since then to the CenturyLink Center. What Phelps remembers is, to him, more important: How Omaha's arena and mindset about hosting the Trials helped the sport.

Swim Trial pools will both be built at once
Myrtha Pools USA impressed Omahans and visitors in 2008 when it planted a 50-meter pool inside the CenturyLink Center and somehow made it look as if it had been there all along. For its next trick, Myrtha will construct two pools at once and complete the work in less time than it took four years ago when the U.S. Olympic Trials first came to Omaha.

Phelps mum on his Omaha options
Even on Mother's Day, swimmer Michael Phelps wasn't cutting mom a break. “My mom doesn't know my goals,” Phelps said Sunday at the Team USA Media Summit. “She's not jumping in the pool and training for me. Although she probably would like to sometimes.”

Lochte shows improvement
Ryan Lochte tossed aside the swimming brief and got down to business Sunday. Switching to a regular racing suit for the first time in three days of competition, Lochte salvaged an otherwise underwhelming weekend performance by winning the 200 IM and setting a meet record at the Charlotte Grand Prix.

Phelps still fine-tuning in Charlotte
For Michael Phelps, it's time to head to the mountains. The 14-time Olympic gold medalist showed he still has some work to do before the London Games, settling for another runner-up finish at the Charlotte Grand Prix on Saturday. He was edged by China's Wu Peng in the 200-meter butterfly, losing to the same swimmer who ended Phelps' long winning streak in one of his signature events a year ago in Michigan.
