Mustangs running backs carry load in win
Millard North was back Thursday night to its running game, churning out 318 yards and throwing only four passes in a 21-10 win over Omaha Burke. What's different is that the No. 4 Mustangs aren't making sophomore quarterback Isaac Aakre the workhorse. Running backs Nick Bellus got 15 carries, for 93 yards and a touchdown; Chris Bailey 13 carries, for 58 yards; and Jacob Bergmeier six carries, for 128 yards and a touchdown against the No. 5 Bulldogs.

The Titans entered the match ranked No. 1 in the Nebraska Top 10 and No. 5 nationally by prepvolleyball.com.

Titans knock off Harlan in Hawkeye Ten showdown
The Council Bluffs Lewis Central volleyball team made it a top goal to win the Hawkeye Ten Conference this fall. It took a big step toward that end Thursday night. The Titans defeated Iowa Class 3-A No. 8 Harlan 25-18, 25-19, 21-25, 25-20, but there were plenty of moments that made the match feel like anything but the season opener that it was for the Cyclones. L.C. came in with a 1-3 record following a tournament in Ames, Iowa, last weekend.

She also had a one-time foray into professional beach volleyball last year at Qwest Center Omaha. But life has changed for the 23-year-old Schwartz. She was married in May to Tim Culwell and then took another giant leap a few months later, taking over as the varsity volleyball coach at Lincoln...
