Offensive struggles cost CU women
The snowy conditions were outside, but Creighton's offense was stuck spinning its wheels inside D.J. Sokol Arena in a 63-55 women's basketball loss to Missouri State in front of 651 on Saturday. Creighton turned the ball over 10 times in the opening period, leading to 14 Missouri State points. The Bluejays finished the game just 22 of 62 from the field and shot 4 for 20 from 3-point range.

Back-to-back losses to Missouri State and Wichita State put the Bluejays in a 0-3 hole to start Missouri Valley Conference play. A team that was having difficulty scoring was saddled with a four-game skid.

Bluejays zone in to hand Shockers loss
Creighton played its “Buzz23” zone for the final dozen possessions and limited Wichita State to three baskets, the last coming after Bluejay freshman Taylor Johnson had secured the 61-59 victory with a pair of free throws with seven seconds to play. Johnson also made the basket that broke a 57-57 tie with 1:28 to play as the Bluejays handed Wichita State just its second loss in 10 Valley games before 665 fans at D.J. Sokol Arena.

Tritz lauds Moore’s effort for Jays
Carli Tritz did some Sunday afternoon lobbying for a teammate after Creighton's 72-68 Missouri Valley Conference victory against Bradley. “DaNae Moore, player of the week,” Tritz said. “I don't know if she'll get it but she has my vote for sure.” Moore scored a career-high 12 points in Sunday's victory in front of 1,001 at D.J. Sokol Arena. The senior, who was averaging 3.8 points per game, had tied her career high with 11 points in Friday's victory over Northern Iowa.

First half surge lifts Jays to win
DaNae Moore shot a hole in Northern Iowa's scouting reports Friday night in helping the Creighton women's basketball team cruise to a 65-50 win. Moore has spent her four seasons as a Bluejay focusing on defense and rebounding to such an extent that Missouri Valley Conference foes often play off of her when the Bluejays have the ball.

Bluejays fall to Redbirds on road
Illinois State improved its string of Missouri Valley Conference home wins to 20, breaking Creighton’s three-game winning streak with a 79-66 victory Sunday afternoon. The Redbirds, who improved to 10-8 overall and 5-2 in the Valley, used a career performance by Katie Broadway to hold off the Bluejays. Broadway shot 12 of 17 from the field and finished with 29 points.

Tritz's winner lifts Jays past Sycamores
Sophomore guard Carli Tritz knocked down a game-winning shot with 2 seconds remaining to lift Creighton to a 64-62 women's basketball victory over Indiana State. The game-winning shot capped a 14-2 run that brought the Bluejays (9-8, 3-3 MVC) back from a 12-point, second-half deficit. “That was the definition of stealing a win,” Creighton coach Jim Flanery said. “We're really fortunate to win, there's no question.”

It was debatable what was louder: the rafter-shaking performance of a drum and drill corps at halftime of Saturday’s Creighton-Southern Illinois women’s basketball game or the clanging of shots off the rims during the contest. Bluejay women get first Valley win
A Creighton women’s basketball team desperate for a win got one Thursday night in a most convincing fashion. The Bluejays held Evansville to 32.6 percent shooting and forced 22 turnovers in posting a 65-33 victory and improving to 7-8 before 565 fans at D.J. Sokol Arena. The win snapped a four-game skid that included losses in Creighton’s first three Missouri Valley games.
