Chocolatier Blue opens

Chocolatier Blue debuts in Village Pointe this weekend with a splash.

DINING NOTES

Is a new restaurant open in your neighborhood? Are you opening a new bar? Have an event coming up? Email your dining, restaurant and cocktail news to sarah.bakerhansen@owh.com.

To read more from Sarah Baker Hansen, go to her blog, OMAvore.

The store will give away samples of its hand-crafted, artsy chocolates, and entertainment will include a street artist on-site creating caricatures and French-inspired music.

This is the first location in Omaha for Chocolatier Chris Blue. He is the only chocolatier in the country who works with Domori dark chocolate, an Italian import, and one of only a few using Five Star brand organic butter, which has the highest fat content of any butter in the world.

The opening event runs from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the store, 168th Street and West Dodge Road.

Zin Room adds tapas to menu

The Zin Room, in downtown Omaha, has added tapas to its already diverse menu.

The restaurant will serve clams rockefeller, smoked wood-fried grilled wings, chicken croquettes and stuffed tomatoes in its bar and lounge area only. The small plates are priced between $3 and $6.

The restaurant also has a new happy hour schedule: Monday-Saturday, 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m, and 10 p.m. until close, and all day Sunday.

Lighthouse Pizza opens

Lighthouse Pizza now is open at 1004 S. 74th Plaza. Matt Egermayer and his brother Scott are running the new fast-casual spot, which offers large, New York-style pizza slices in a drive-through.

"We are trying to be for pizza by the slice what Chipotle and Qdoba have become for fast-casual Mexican," Matt Egermayer said.

Rob Mattoch, former executive chef at Taste and Brix, created the recipes. The menu features salads, buffalo wings and garlic parmesan fries available in an indoor dining room and at a drive-through that stays open until 3 a.m. on weekends. The restaurant's phone number is 402-932-6660.

Bobs get free burritos

If your name is Bob, listen up.

Pancheros Mexican Grill is giving a free burrito to anyone named Bob — or any variation of the name — on May 1.

It's part of the company's "Save Bobs" campaign, named after "Bob the Tool," the mixing mechanism the restaurant uses to blend ingredients before wrapping them in a tortilla.

A Facebook contest gives people the chance to win $5,000 by choosing one of their friends named Bob to "save."

In Omaha, Pancheros is at 17305 Davenport St. and its phone number is 402-934-5677.

Dante Ristorante to host wine dinner

Dante Ristorante Pizzeria is having its first outdoor wine dinner on April 30.

The restaurant plans a series of outdoor wine dinners that they describe as a "more intimate and in-depth approach" to Italian wine and food.

The first dinner focuses on the Fruili region, in Northeastern Italy, best known for its crisp, refreshing white wine Friulano.

The dinner will include five small-plate courses paired with wines. The dinner is $65 per person and includes tax and tip.

Seating is limited to 16, and reservations are required. For more information or a reservation, call 402-932-3078.

Special offer at Quaker Steak and Lube

The Council Bluffs location of Quaker Steak and Lube is treating moms, dads and graduates to a special offer this spring.

From April 17 through June 17, diners who purchase a $25 gift card will get a free $5 bonus gift card. People who take advantage of this offer will also get a second special offer, a coupon for $5 off a $25 bill good on Mother's Day, May 13, or Father's Day, June 17.

Quaker Steak and Lube is in Council Bluffs at 3220 Mid America Drive. For more information, call 712-322-0101.

Nothing Bundt Cakes has new hours.

The bakery is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The business is at 10347 Pacific St. in One Pacific Place and its phone number is 402-933-9305.
