Crab Shack shark to break Omaha waters

The shark -- that is the Joe's Crab Shack shark -- is on its way to Omaha.

The restaurant, which opens Monday, is celebrating with a "Shark and Awe Road Trip" that started last week in Houston, Texas, where Joe's Crab Shack started, and is ending in Omaha to celebrate the opening of the new spot.

The shark, along with its driver and trailer, stopped for parties along the way, in Oklahoma City and Olathe, Kan.

A shark-welcoming event Monday will feature live music and giveaways, including a drawing for free buckets of crab, the restaurant's signature dish. The restaurant is also having a contest with nearby Westroads Mall that features additional giveaways.

On Monday, the Omaha location, 701 N. 102nd St., will give away free crab to the first 100 people in line, and a representative at the restaurant today said she expected customers to be lined up the night before.

For more information on the mall contest, visit http://www.facebook.com/WestroadsMall or www.facebook.com/joescrabshack .
