Omahan wanted for sex assaults arrested in Texas

A man wanted in Omaha on charges of sexually assaulting two young boys is behind bars in southern Texas.

Authorities in Port Isabel, Texas, confirmed Wednesday morning that Daniel R. Mangiameli, 62, has been arrested.

Port Isabel is in the southern tip of Texas on the border with Mexico.

An arrest warrant was issued for Mangiameli on March 1 for four felony counts related to sexual assault of a child and two charges for possession of child pornography.

Two boys who did yard work for Mangiameli allege that he used a vibrating sex toy on them and himself to achieve sexual gratification, according to court records.

Authorities in Port Isabel said a local resident reported Mangiameli's whereabouts.

The two men had become acquainted during the past week, authorities said, and Mangiameli suddenly gave the Port Isabel man his van, saying he was headed to Mexico for a month to “give money to homeless kids.”

The resident told police he became suspicious, looked Mangiameli up on the internet and saw Mangiameli was a wanted man.

Port Isabel Police Chief Gualberto Gonzalez said Mangiameli was carrying $8,610 in cash when he was arrested Monday.

A search of his belongings uncovered a vibrator, according to Port Isabel police. Sam Womack
