Good morning. Today is Friday, Feb. 10, 2012.
Bundle up. Temps are dropping and the wind is gusty at times. The early temps are in the mid-teens - about as high as it will get today. Normal for this time of year - 36 degrees.
News of note:
• Because Nebraska and Iowa haven't been hit hard by the housing crisis, the two states likely will see a relatively small impact from the $25 billion settlement with banks over foreclosure abuses.
• The Nebraska School Activities Association signed a five-year deal to switch from Spalding to Baden basketballs - and now the state's dribblers are stuck with lopsided balls.
• Shadow Lake Towne Center is seeking volunteers for its consumer advisory group to learn what consumers want in restaurants, entertainment, shopping. Check out how to get involved in today's retail wrap-up.
• McFoster's owner is behind on his property taxes, forcing it to sell; a Lincoln pizza shop plans to offer free pizza for a year to its first 50 customers; and Omaha makes it onto "best of" lists - for romance. Check out dining notes.
Among the day's happenings:
• Stage musical "The Fantasticks" opens for a five-week run at 7:30 p.m., Omaha Community Playhouse, $24 for students, $40 for adults at omahaplayhouse.com.
