A man charged with motor vehicle homicide was traveling up to 92 mph on Interstate 680 with a blood-alcohol content more than twice the legal limit, according to Douglas County prosecutors.

Tyler J. Robar was the driver in a Jan. 31 crash on I-680 near Pacific Street that killed his passenger, Charles M. Brown, 20.

Robar, 23, of Omaha was driving when his pickup truck hit an embankment, went airborne and came to rest overturned just before 6:30 p.m.

Brown was ejected and died at the scene.

Robar was treated for a head injury. He was still wearing a neck brace during his first appearance Thursday in Douglas County Court.

Prosecutors said Robar was traveling 88 to 92 mph and that his blood-alcohol content was .212 when he tried to pass a vehicle on the inside shoulder of I-680.

A judge set Robar's bail at $200,000 and ordered him to stand trial in district court. Robar chose to waive his preliminary hearing.
