'Shroom charade no hallucination

Rumors that a student was trying to sell 'shrooms to his classmates were true - sort of.

The Northwest High School student had eight baggies of mushrooms - six in his book bag, two in his shirt pocket - that he was trying to pass off as hallucinogenics, according to an Omaha police report.

But after being confronted by authorities, he admitted that he was trying to peddle mushrooms that can be legally purchased at grocery stores and at restaurants, the report said.

Turns out, that's illegal.

Police said the 17-year-old was cited and released for possession of an imitation of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor. — Sam Womack
