YORK, Neb. (AP) — A 50-year-old Oregon man who was arrested while hauling 20 pounds of marijuana through Nebraska has pleaded no contest.
Douglas Sutton, of Gold Hill, made his plea last week after making a deal with prosecutors, who lowered the charge to possessing more than one pound. Sutton's sentencing is scheduled for March 19.
The Nebraska State Patrol says Sutton was driving east Nov. 11 when he was pulled over on Interstate 80 in York County for failing to signal.
The pot was found in the trunk during a search of the car.
Sutton's passenger, Mark Butler, 63, of Reno, Nev., pleaded no contest Jan. 11 to possessing less than one ounce of marijuana. He was fined $300.
