A Cass County, Neb., sheriff's deputy and an Omaha woman were injured after being struck by a pickup truck on Interstate 80 during Saturday's snowstorm.
Cass County Sheriff William C. Brueggemann said Cara Delp, 20, was taken to the Creighton University Medical Center. She was listed in serious condition Monday.
Deputy Randy Wilkins didn't appear to have any serious injuries, Brueggemann said, but was taken to BryanLGH Medical Center West in Lincoln and kept overnight for observation. He was released Sunday.
Brueggemann said Delp's vehicle slid off I-80 at the Greenwood interchange about 4 p.m. and Wilkins stopped to help. A red Dodge pickup truck lost control, slid off the Interstate and struck Delp and Wilkins as they stood outside their vehicles.
The name of the pickup's driver was not released. The Nebraska State Patrol is investigating the incident.
