111 million

The number of people expected to watch the New England Patriots take on the New York Giants in the big game. In addition to the sheer size of the audience, it also presents a near 50-50 split of male and female viewers, a rarity for television audiences and a big draw for advertisers.

$3.5 million

The average amount charged by NBC to air a 30-second advertisement during the Super Bowl; some of the long sold-out time slots cost as much as $4 million. Some packages sold include ad space during the Summer Olympics.

45

Minutes of commercials expected to air during the Super Bowl.

19

The percentage of people who watch the Super Bowl solely for the commercials, according to a survey by BIGinsight.

9

The number of automakers with ads running during the Super Bowl: Audi, Chrysler, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Toyota, Lexus and Volkswagen. Other companies like Cars.com and Bridgestone Tires also purchased ad space, meaning as many as a third of the ads will be auto-related.
