Descendants fund family scholarship

The children of Harvey J. and Betty L. Henning of Kearney have established a scholarship at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. They set up the Henning Family Scholarship Fund at the University of Nebraska Foundation as a permanent endowment to provide annual financial aid to undergraduate UNK students.

Qualifying students will include graduates of Nebraska high schools who have a 3.0 GPA or greater and are enrolled in the College of Business and Technology, College of Education or the College of Fine Arts and Humanities.

Although the amount of the gift was not disclosed, the interest income from the permanent endowment is estimated to provide about 15 annual scholarships of $2,000 each.

Missouri school to take credits from college

Students who graduate from Nebraska's Southeast Community College with an associate degree in manufacturing engineering technology will be able to transfer and earn a bachelor's degree in the same program at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, Mo.

This is due to an agreement recently signed by officials from both schools. The transfer document was effective immediately.

Senior citizens who help out will be honored
