Nebraska Attorney General Jon Bruning has landed another big endorsement, this time from a group that helped create the Super PAC phenomenon.
Citizens United contributed $10,000 to the Republican U.S. Senate candidate on Thursday, describing him as “new blood in the conservative movement.”
The group is known for waging a successful court battle in 2008, overturning the campaign finance law known as McCain-Feingold. The ruling paved the way for corporations and unions to raised unlimited amounts of money and to run television advertisements on behalf or against political candidates.
Bruning’s endorsement comes as his chief rival, State Treasurer Don Stenberg, recently landed financial support from the Senate Conservatives Fund, a group founded by Tea Party favorite, U.S. Sen. Jim DeMint of South Carolina.
