KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Mitch Albers scored a career-high 31 points as the University of Nebraska at Omaha men's basketball team defeated Avila 83-81 on Thursday.
It was the Mavs' second win in as many days as they improved to 9-15.
UNO's CJ Carter chipped in 17 points, six rebounds, three assists and three steals, and Caleb Steffensmeier added a career-best 15 points with seven assists and a pair of blocks. Alex Welhouse had 13 points.
Avila had five players score in double figures: Curtis Churchman (13), Austin Stockard (13), Lance Miller (12), Louis Lowe (11) and Ben Dierkes (11).
UNO shot 55 percent, and Avila finished at 41 percent, as well as 46 percent (13 of 28) from 3-point range. The Eagles outrebounded UNO 35-30.
