Opera Omaha is getting "Mad" with the promotion for its newest production,"The Marriage Contract."
Inspirated by the popular television show "Mad Men," Opera Omaha is presenting "A Mixer in Mad Style" at the House of Loom on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
The bar, at 1012 S. 10th St., will be transformed into a swanky lounge with influences from the '50s and '60s and live music from the time period setting the vintage vibe.
Guests are encouraged to "dress to the nines" for a costume contest. Crave restaurant will cater classic cocktails and hors d'oeuvres.
Sarah Backhaus, an account executive with Clark Creative Group, who is producing the event, said this mixer is a perfect way for young professionals who are interested in the arts to interact and learn more about Opera Omaha.
Listening booths featuring music from the opera's past season as well as costumes from past performances and trivia about Opera Omaha productions, will be set up throughout the bar.
"We want the event to be fun and appealing," Backhaus said. "The information on Opera Omaha is there, but not overwhelming. It's available at (the guest's) leisure."
"A Mixer in Mad Style" tickets are $20 and include admission to the mixer and a pass to one night of Opera Omaha's production of "The Marriage Contract," which opens Feb 17. Visit TicketOmaha.com or call 402-345-0606 for tickets.
