CHADRON, Neb. — The Chadron State football team will open its season next fall against Montana State.
The Eagles will play their first three games on the road, including the two non-conference tilts against Division I FCS-member Montana State on Sept. 1 and a rematch with Angelo State of the Lone Star Conference in Texas on Sept. 8.
The Eagles haven't played Montana State since 2006, when they won 35-24 in Bozeman. Many members of that CSC team became key cogs in the Eagles' great three-year run when they won three straight Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference titles and won 28 consecutive conference games.
The game at Angelo, Texas, figures to be a good one. Last season, Angelo State erased a 21-point deficit at the start of the fourth quarter to earn a 49-42 victory in the teams' first-ever meeting.
The third road game on Sept. 15 at Colorado Mesa begins Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action.
The Eagles will host four home games, beginning with Western State on Sept. 22. CSC will also host Black Hills State, which replaces the University of Nebraska at Kearney in the RMAC, on Oct. 13, Western New Mexico on Oct. 27 and the season finale against Colorado School of Mines on Nov. 10.
Chadron State finished the 2011 season with a 6-5 record.
