Red carpet looksHollywood glam is a haute trend in bridalwear for 2011. So don't be afraid to experiment with color, shine and other attention-drawing details. Take your inspiration from the red carpet, or from movie sirens of the 1940s, '50s and '60s. Romantic flair is part of the look, with alluring necklines, bedazzling crystal and flower embellishments and sensuous fabrics in soft pinks, champagnes and nudes. Hair is swept back in a low, loose bun or cascading in soft finger curls. Jewelry is restrained with more extravagant dresses; chunky and overstated with simpler designs. If you want to act out your princess fantasy for the ceremony yet step up the siren factor for the reception, several high-end designers offer the “twofer” or two-in-one dress with an invisible zipper or Velcro tucked into skirt tiers or side seams. Alfred Angelo's top-selling convertible gown ($649 to $749) is a strapless lace design available with a high-low hem or a removable satin skirt. It's a popular style for destination weddings, says Amanda Sheronas, director of public relations for Alfred Angelo. How you reveal your “second” dress is up to you. You may make a show-stopping entrance at your reception and whip off the extra layer on the dance floor. If you don't have a flair for the theatrical, just duck into the bridal room before the reception. You can also freshen your accessories with bangles or let down your up-do or simply re-emerge and kick up your stiletto heels. CTW Features contributed to this article.
