Creighton will try to maintain its soccer mastery over California schools when the 2-0 Bluejays play Tuesday night at UC Santa Barbara.
Creighton is unbeaten in its past 12 games against California schools, posting a 9-0-3 record. That mark includes wins last season over ranked California schools (Cal Poly, UCLA).
Loyola Marymount was the last California school to beat the Bluejays, posting a 2-1 overtime victory in 2003.
Creighton has opened its season by scoring six goals in wins over Loyola Chicago and North Carolina Greensboro. Last season the Bluejays finished 7-4-5 with a total of 19 goals.
UC Santa Barbara started the season ranked eighth in the coaches’ poll but dropped a 1-0 decision to Cal State Bakersfield and tied New Mexico 1-1 in overtime.
