6:25 p.m.: Couldn't have started much better Taylor Martinez. The redshirt freshman completed his first pass for 5 yards to Brandon Kinnie and then took off for a 46-yard touchdown run less than four minutes into the season.
Martinez ran a simple zone read. But it was unlike any zone read we've seen from the Huskers. He juked linebacker Orlando Misaalefua a few yards past the line of scrimmage and got free safety Kareem Peterson to take a bad angle, easily shaking off a tackle with about 20 yards to go.
Needless to say, the crowd is in a frenzy.
It's 7-0 Huskers. This is going to get ugly in a hurry. Baker Steinkuhler just sacked Western Kentucky quarterback Matt Pelesasa to end the Hilltoppers' second drive.
