12:55 p.m.: It's officially here. The first full game day of the Big 12 football season. And life is really, really good.
Just finished a peaceful drive down the two-lane roads of Nebraska and Kansas into Manhattan, Kan., where Kansas State and UCLA are starting to loosen up for their 2:30 p.m. game.
The game is sold out. The traffic is unbelieveably heavy. K-State fans are thinking this game could set the tone for the season.
I only got one one-finger salute with my Nebraska license plates, so maybe it won't be such a bad final pass through the Big 12.
Everybody have fun today and be safe. It's the most wonderful time of the year.
