There won’t be any patsies to start the University of Nebraska at Omaha’s schedule this weekend.
The Mavericks take on Central Oklahoma at 4 p.m. on Friday and Midwestern State at noon Sunday at the Broncho Invitational in Edmond, Okla.
“Both teams will be formidable,’’ coach Don Klosterman said.
Central Oklahoma also is in the South Central Region, so Klosterman says that game will help when it comes to getting back to the postseason.
“Our strength of schedule is so much better than anyone else in the region,’’ he said.
Klosterman says he’s still messing around with his lineup. There’s a chance he could start five or six freshmen.
The first 20 to 30 minutes could decide how much playing time they get. He’ll look at how the Mavs manage the game and how the newcomers’ inexperience affects them.
If they can build some confidence, Klosterman said, “that will help us a whole, whole lot.’’
