Emma Johanningsmeier won the Midwest Spelling Bee today at the Creighton University Harper Center.
Emma is an eighth-grader at Westside Middle School in Omaha.
Anna Meckel of Lincoln took second. Anna, who is home-schooled, is in the eighth grade. Bobby Larsen of Papillion, who represented the region last year at the national competition, came in third.
