    ASU extends streak against Huskers

Tempe, Ariz. — The Huskers got plenty of offense to win Saturday’s opener 11-2 in six innings against Pacific, but they couldn’t push across a run against No. 10 Arizona State and fell 1-0 at the Diamond Devil Invitational.

The Sun Devils (23-2) have won 17 straight games, despite being outhit 7-3. Two of their hits came in the fifth inning, when they scored the game’s lone run.

In the opener, NU used a six-run third inning and two home runs from freshman Brooke Thomason to rally from an early deficit. Thomason became the first Husker freshman to hit two home runs in a game since Crystal Carwile in 2006.

NU (13-12) ends tournament play Sunday with a rematch against Arizona State at 3 p.m.
