LINCOLN (AP) — A 44-year-old Lincoln man is behind bars, accused of sexually assaulting the young daughters of friends years earlier.
Gerald Meeker remained in jail Thursday, pending bail of $250,000. Meeker is charged with two counts of first-degree sexual assault of a child. His preliminary hearing has been set for next Wednesday.
The judge also ordered that a public defender represent Meeker. A call to the Lancaster County Public Defender’s office was not immediately returned.
Meeker was arrested Monday after one girl, now 16, told her family that Meeker had molested her when she was about 6 years old. When her older sister, now 17, was questioned, she also said Meeker had molested her years ago.
