The milestone week for UNO senior Eddie Del Grosso continues.
After breaking the Mavs' record for career points by a defenseman on Saturday, Del Grosso for the first time on Wednesday earned first-team All-CCHA accolades. UNO hadn't placed a skater on the league's top honors team since Scott Parse was first-team All-CCHA in 2006-07.
Del Grosso, a second-team pick as a junior, leads the Mavericks this season with 30 points on seven goals and 23 assists. He's the top scoring defenseman in the CCHA heading into the second round of the league playoffs.
During UNO's 6-1 win over Bowling Green on Saturday, the alternate captain out of Las Vegas had a goal and two assists to bump his career point total to 109. That moved Del Grosso past Greg Zanon, who totaled 107 points while playing at UNO from 1999 through 2003.
Joining Del Grosso on the first team were forwards Mark Olver (Northern Michigan), Jarod Palmer (Miami) and Zac Dalpe (Ohio State); defenseman Erik Gustafsson (Northern Michigan); and goaltender Cody Reichard (Miami).
Olver, a former Omaha Lancers standout who leads the CCHA with 46 points, was the top vote-getter and is a leading candidate to win the conference's player of the year award.
Earning All-CCHA second-team honors were forwards Andy Miele (Miami), Tommy Wingels (Miami) and Corey Tropp (Michigan State); defensemen Zach Redmond (Ferris State) and Jeff Petry (Michigan State); and goalie Drew Palmisano (Michigan State). Palmisano also is an Omaha Lancers product.
