    Sam Houston rallies past Creighton

HUNTSVILLE, Texas — Sunday afternoon was payback time for Sam Houston State.

Two days after Scott Thornburg capped Creighton’s four-run, 10th-inning comeback with a walk-off single to hand the tournament host a 6-5 loss, the Bearkats scored three runs with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning to beat the Bluejays 10-9 in the final game of the Bearkat Invitational.

Thornburg finished with a career-high three hits, and CU’s Ian Dike — who posted the go-ahead run with a solo homer in the seventh — had a career-high three RBIs.

Bobby Lackovic (3-1) gave up all three runs in the ninth to take the loss.

A based-loaded strikeout by Lackovic got the Jays (5-3) within an out of a fourth win in five games, but Lackovic walked the next batter to set up a walk-off single by SHSU’s Greg Olson.

Creighton will play at UT-Arlington at 3 p.m. Wednesday before playing in its last regular-season tournament, the Metrodome Tournament in Minneapolis, beginning Friday.
