Couple ProfilesDESIGN STUDIO PHOTOGRAPHY Twee Vu & Christian SipherdTwee Vu and Christian Sipherd met at a restaurant in Texas. Twee proclaimed to a co-worker that her next boyfriend would have to be at least 6 feet tall. Christian, at 6 feet 4 inches, overheard Twee and made his move. They were married Aug. 23, 2009, in an outdoor ceremony at the Fountains Ballroom near Glenwood, Iowa. A reception followed in the Ballroom. Twee and Christian went with a classic, James Bond-esque tuxedo theme in black, white and red. Bridesmaids wore floor-length black satin dresses accented with white satin sashes embroidered with black flowers. The groomsmen were appropriately formal in black tuxes, white wing-collar shirts and long black ties. The groom, in true Double- O-Seven fashion, wore a bow tie. “I was never really the girl who fantasized about her wedding,” admitted Twee. “I dreamed of being an entertainer instead.” Christian and Twee made sure the reception lived up to that dream. Introduction of the bridal party got a jump-start when Christian made his grand entrance by sliding down the staircase banister. “My husband is kind of a daredevil,” Twee says. “He likes to do silly stunts. He nearly gave the ballroom owner a heart attack!” Twee, with a crowd-pleaser of her own, took center stage with two bridesmaids for a choreographed rendition of Lady Gaga's “Love Game.” Even Twee's family got in on the act. The bride's mom and stepdad showcased their professional ballroom dancing talent with “Black Magic Woman.” Twee's 13-year-old sister performed a solo dance routine to the Wonder Girls' “Nobody.” For the finale, Twee, who is a singer and songwriter, dueted with Aaron Jordan to sing “The Prayer.” “It was all about having fun and being the center of attention for a day with all your family and friends,” the bride recalls. “We wanted to make it memorable. It was like a fairytale musical.” Reception fare was served in an Asian-style buffet featuring crab rangoon, pork dumplings, vegetarian lo mein and General Tso's chicken. The dessert table offered dairy-free cake made by the groom's aunt, and vegan cupcakes with white icing and fresh strawberries. “I never thought that I could have such an elegant reception on our budget,” Twee says. “My friends at work still tell me that they cried at my fairytale wedding!” VENDORS Ceremony/reception site: The Fountains Ballroom, Glenwood, Iowa Bridal gown: The Bridal Gallery Tuxedos: Gentleman's Choice Rings: Helzberg Diamonds; Brodkey's Jewelers Hair: Jessica Billingsley, Scissori's Salon Make-up: Blush Makeup Artistry Florist: The Fountains Ballroom Caterer: Hy-Vee Photography: Design Studio Photography Videography: Tina Nguyen, bride's cousin Travel agent: Enchanted Honeymoons Favors: Bed, Bath & Beyond Invitations/programs: Michael's Disc jockey: Complete Music
