GOOSE LAKE, Iowa — The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is investigating the shooting of a trumpeter swan found in Clinton County.
The swan was found along Highway 136 near the Goose Lake Wildlife Area.
According to conservation officer Luke Webinger, it was initially believed the swan had struck a power line. However, X-rays revealed pellets in its wing.
Webinger said the swan was being treated by a wildlife rehabilitator, but its long-term prognosis was not clear. He said that at the very least, the swan would never fly again.
The natural resources department is asking the public for assistance in finding the person responsible for the swan's injuries.
