LINCOLN (AP) — A former Nebraska football player has pleaded guilty to a theft charge for stealing a big-screen television and pawning it.
Twenty-six-year-old Andre Jones is scheduled for sentencing on Jan. 14.
Jones stole the TV in June 2008 from a home where he had been staying. The felony charge against him was dismissed when he was given pretrial diversion.
That didn’t work out, so prosecutors continued with the theft case.
Jones is awaiting trial in a separate case, accused of forging a signature so he could get a $20,000 loan.
Jones played cornerback for the Huskers during the 2006 and 2007 seasons.
He is a native of Fort Walton Beach, Fla. He played junior college football at Fresno City Community College in California.
