Holiday closing schedules

Government offices and other public services will follow these schedules Thursday and Friday in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday:

Federal offices: Closed Thursday in Nebraska and Iowa. Open Friday.

State offices: Closed Thursday and Friday in Nebraska and Iowa.

County offices: Closed Thursday and Friday in Douglas, Sarpy and Pottawattamie Counties.

City offices: Closed Thursday and Friday in Omaha, La Vista, Bellevue, Council Bluffs, Papillion and Ralston.

Courts: State courts closed Thursday and Friday in Nebraska and Iowa; county courts closed Thursday and Friday in Douglas, Sarpy and Pottawattamie Counties.

Mail: No mail delivery Thursday; regular delivery Friday.

Parking meters: No coins needed in Omaha for Thursday and Friday.

Garbage collection: Garbage, recyclable and yard-waste collection in Omaha will be delayed one day. Thursday collections will be done Friday; Friday's pickup Saturday.

Newspaper: Morning delivery to all World-Herald subscribers Thursday and Friday.

Utilities: MUD offices closed Thursday and Friday. OPPD offices closed Thursday. Downtown OPPD office closed Friday; north, south and west OPPD offices open Friday.

Libraries: Closed Thursday and Friday in Omaha and Bellevue. Closed Thursday in Council Bluffs and open Friday. (Note: the W. Dale Clark Library in downtown Omaha will be open from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday for the Holiday Lights Festival lighting ceremony.)

MAT: Buses will not run Thursday; regular schedule Friday.
