Johanna & Grant

Wedding: June 9, 2007
Honeymoon: June 12-18, 2007

Article Image Johanna and Grant's Northern California escape featured stops in San Francisco, Sonoma, and Napa.

The celebration started in San Francisco. The couple enjoyed touring China Town, Fisherman's Wharf and the Golden Gate Bridge. Johanna and Grant then rented a car and drove to Sonoma County. “We took the coastal highway. What a beautiful view," Johanna said. "We stopped at various points along the highway to take pictures of the wide open ocean, ate fresh oysters at the Hog Shack and had a picnic on the beach.”

The next day, Johanna and Grant traveled to Napa for three nights at the Milliken Creek Inn. “We visited multiple vineyards, large and small, from the famous Cakebread and Sutter Home to the smaller Terraces Vineyard,” Grant said.

Biggest honeymoon surprise:
Our flight home was cancelled due to weather, grounding us for one more night at the Red Lion Hotel in Denver. It was definitely a change from the luxurious California accommodations!

Why they picked this honeymoon:
California seemed to have everything: the beach, the city scene, the mountains, the forest, gorgeous weather and most importantly, romance.

Favorite thing about the trip:
Being newlyweds in a place where the sun is warm and the wine is free! We can't say enough about the great memories shared while in California

Least favorite thing about the trip:
Getting sick! Grant got the flu for a couple of days in Napa (but still managed to tough it out).

Price range for the whole trip:
About $4,500, including airfare, car rental and gas, lodging, food, entertainment, souvenirs.
