Unforgettable You, Spring/Summer 2009

With budget constraints, this just might be the year to get married in a short dress. Wedding Essentials editors found plenty of stunning options - for a fraction of the price of most long gowns - at Omaha area bridal shops.

Lace looks right any time of year. Name your personality, and you'll find a dress style to match it - romantic, playful, naughty or nice.

Play up your movie star good looks with a dress that evokes the glamour of 1950s Hollywood. Take your cue from Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, Rita Hayworth - or another silver screen diva you admire. Retro bridal looks are in vogue.

The self-assured bride can pull off any color - even red. Outrageous? Not if you're getting married on Valentine's Day. Or working up a hot dance number for your reception.

If a destination wedding is in the works, a short dress will pack more easily than a long gown. Select a dress in a wrinkle-free fabric and eliminate the need to have it professionally steamed upon your arrival. Wear a fresh flower in your hair, and you'll drive the island boys crazy.

Be bold. Test a new shape. Eye a non-traditional color - like bronze. You'll know whether the dress is "you" when you try it on. If you can imagine the possibilities and the price is right, what have you got to lose?
